Servicing your commercial refrigerator is much more economical than replacing it. Be aware of these signs that your fridge is in need of repair so that you can have it fixed before it’s too late.

Higher Energy Bills:

If your commercial refrigerator is running inefficiently, it will increase in your energy bills just as an HVAC system would if it required service. If you notice that your energy bill is steadily increasing without a clear explanation of the increase, it may be a sign that you’re due for refrigerator service.

Loose Seals:

If you’ve noticed that the door gaskets have become worn or damaged, you should contact a refrigeration specialist. When the seals around the door of your refrigerator are loose, cold air is able to escape with ease.

Rotten Food:

If you find food inside your refrigerator that has spoiled well before you expected, it’s a dead giveaway that your refrigerator isn’t performing properly. Make sure you check your refrigerator’s settings. If you can’t find an explanation for the spoilage, your refrigerator is probably not maintaining the proper internal temperature, and needs to be serviced immediately.

Dirty Condenser Coils:

If your condenser coils are dirty or dusty, they need to be cleaned. Condenser coils are found in the back of or beneath the fridge. If you know how to do this properly, you can do it yourself once or twice a year.

Leaks:

Be on the lookout for puddles around your refrigerator. If your refrigerator is leaking, it not only reduces the cooling efficiency of the unit but can cause water damage, so call a repairman as soon as possible.
